WD "Austerity" 2-8-0: Rolling Stock Part 2 and Features

Last week we showed you pictures of the Railway Gun model, so now let's take a look at it in game.

There were four guns of this type during WW2 - "Boche-Buster" had an 18" howitzer and the other three mounted 13.5" Naval guns but the external barrel differences are small so we have included all four names as options.

When moving the gun the loading cranes would be lowered and the side platforms and steps stowed away to keep the gun within gauge and you can choose this set up using the wagon number.

Also optional are covers. A simple canvas barrel cover to stop dirt getting in during transit.

Or a full cover over the whole gun.

The Ammunition Wagon is a similar shade of green and has optional LNER text on the side.

The whole set up weighs over 300 tons and fits very nicely behind the WD 2-8-0.

Although outside of the scope of this pack, the Railway Guns were originally used in WW1 where they sported a much more colourful camouflage paint scheme and with our friends who are working on The Railway Operating Division Project in mind we have included this version as well. It was also a lot of fun to paint!

And that brings us to the end of everything that is included with the WD "Austerity" 2-8-0.. which is quite a lot!
This is a quick run-down of the main features of the pack..

  2. With the recent release of the rail gun at Oxford rail (00 gauge) we will need a Dean goods loco to go with the gun 😉🚂

  4. Evening. A question about the Ammunition Wagon shown here please, as my N gauge model group are having a discussion about the pilley-type system on the side.
Would you know what that is actually for please???

    1. We actually don't. We did wonder if the upper middle panels were removal/hinged and the shells could be loaded in from the sides. It's hard to see how the side hoist would work any other way. Sadly plans and photographs of the ammo wagon are very few and far between.

  5. Good Morning Victory Works,

My friends have had a Victory in relation to that question we messaged about in April, regarding what those 'things' n the side of the Ammo Wagon.
They are for lifting the whole wagon on/off a ship by crane. The horizontal beams go above the wagon and are attached to the hook of a crane.

  6. Hello there Victory Works. I noticed that the link you provided to get the animations for the gun aren't working anymore. Is there any place I can go to find them?

    2. Thank you very much for the link. I also, I tried to remove the tarps from the gun barren and wagon together but only one or the other would come off. How do I remove both covers?

    3. The 2nd character controls the tarps... None/Barrel/Full using N, B or F
1NN should give you no tarps

  7. Where do I put the animated file in order for the gun animation to work?

    1. It's an rwp file, you use TS Utilities/Package Manager (in the TS root folder) to install it
