WD "Austerity" 2-8-0: Updates and Rolling Stock, Part 1

We kick this week's blog post off with some updates and fixes, most of which were suggested by the train sim'ing community.

First off a big thank you to Alexander Chillmaid for providing us with photographs of the LMR black framed livery which we have now added in game.

Also those images showed us that sometimes the LMR engines had white wall wheels which are also an option now.

Next up a thank you to Sam Steventon for letting us know about the Remembrance nameplate that preserved WD 2-8-0 No. 90733 sometimes carries. This will now be available in game as an option, either on it's own or with flags on the front lamp brackets.

Next up, from George Spencer, an option for the late logo BR livery, we have the Midland lamp bracket arrangement with everything from the middle moved over to the right (although I'm still not sure why they did this?!)

DustySpartan32 (probably not his real name!) reminded us on the blog that we hadn't shown the pre-1950 British Railways text as an option for the tender.

Marcus Boon did some research and found that the Dutch livery should be black lined, rather than black and white, and this has now been corrected.

DustySpartan32also requested a WD tender with the LMS logo on it as these were used during the exchange trails and this is now going to be included as well.

Thank you very much to everyone who talks to us on forums, Facebook, by email and on this blog. We really do appreciate your input as we craft these amazing locomotives.

Next up, rolling stock. It will come as no surprise that we have focused on war related items for a war-born engine.
First off we have the good old warwell with 3 British vehicles.

A new version of the Cromwell

The Churchill Mk IV (A22)

And the Humber Armoured Car (5400 of these were built and used by many forces all over the world)

Also we have the WD 10 ton van. Used for many purposes these would have been seen all over the UK during WW2 moving military supplies and many went over to Europe as well.

Finally we have something rather special.
Relics from WW1 and declared obsolete in 1926 and scrapped, large railway gun carriages were re-gunned at the start of WW2 for coastal defence and here we present probably the most famous of them, Boche-Buster!

This video shows her in 1941 and although sounding rather gung-ho, in truth, she was never fired in anger during WW2.

Shown with a shell and a person for scale, these things are absolutely HUGE and are coming to Train Simulator along with the WD 2-8-0.

Accompanying the gun is its special ammunition wagon, carrying 96 of the 1,400 pound shells it was fitted with a railing system for loading directly on to the rear deck of the gun.

We hope to have them both fully textured and in game in the next few days and that will be the focus of next week's blog post.
